A horrific scene turned into a heart-warming tale when on Wednesday, January 22, an Alberta man found three abandoned kittens near Drayton Valley.

The man, Kendall Diwisch, was able to save them and posted the online video of the Alberta cat rescue. The video has been viral ever since and Diwisch also posted an update on how the kittens are doing now.

He states in Diwisch’s Facebook post that he discovered the “three fellows” on a back road near the oil well where he is working.

“Poor things were frozen into the ice so they had to have been there all night,” he wrote.

The video shows him getting close to the little animals in the snow. “Look at these people,” he says. Then, speaking to the cats, he says “it’s OK, it’s OK. The ice is freezing. Did you stay all night?”One of the cats is not frozen, but the other two are stuck to the ground with their tails.

He asks the cats to hang on once Diwisch sees this and goes to this truck to get his coffee. He pours the warm coffee on the tails of the cats and is able to free them.

In this tragic situation, his innovative and fast thinking was a total game-changer.

The little animals cry right up until their savior rescues them and picks them up. He walks back towards his truck after he scooped them up and says to himself “that’s so cruel.” His post explains that he took them home after the video, and provided them with food and water.

“If any friends are looking to have a new addition in their family, let us know as they will need homes. All three look to be males, and we also gave them dewormer,” he wrote, not taking his temporary cat dad position lightly.

He has since posted an update on the same post that says “The three little rascals have gone to their new home today where they get to be together instead of splitting them,” and we could hardly read it without tears in our eyes.

He explained that all the small fur babies eat and drink and are full of energy.

Which started out as a very sad event became an unforgettable act of kindness.

It’s winter, meaning Alberta is as cold as it can be and the SPCA has seen a huge spike in calls for animal distress. When people go out so cold it’s probably too cold for dogs.

There are always animals in Alberta looking for homes, so sweetnesses like these could end up being your new best friends if you stay on the lookout for adoption.
